June Wright Warren Minimize

Following a courageous battle with cancer, June passed away Thursday evening, August 19.  She had resided in the Oklahoma City area for over 20 years.  Born in 1958 and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, June attended Louisiana State University. She graduated with a degree in political science.
Quarter horses were her passion and her business for 32 years.  As an AQHA professional horsewoman, June was an acclaimed trainer and breeder working closely with partner, Ron Horn.   She was a multiple world champion in Hunter Under Saddle and past president of the National Snaffle Bit Association.
June is survived by her longtime companion Ron Horn and loyal Wylie Whippet.  She is also survived by three sisters:  Malloy Warren Liner, Kay Warren Thayer, and Mary Craig Warren; along with brothers-in-law Jeff Liner and Chris Thayer.  She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews living in Texas and Georgia. June was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Malloy Warren.
June was loved and respected by friends, family and peers within the quarter horse industry.  She will be missed, but remembered fondly.   A private memorial service will be held in Oklahoma City.  Donations may be sent to the National Snaffle Bit Association Foundation, 4203 Grove Avenue, Gurnee, IL  60031.

Comments:I feel very sad hearing about June's death. We were such good friends in our early teens and shared alot of good times together when she had her first horse "Cher" and then when she finally got her first Quarter horse mare. We rode, swam & showed the horses together. Good memories!! Another fond memory with June, I will never forget was our trip to Mexico together in July 1975. The beginning of the trip gave us a forgleam of what was to follow. On the plane before landing in Mexico there was only one bathroom available, so we decided we could both fit & get our clothes changed. However one of us set off the emergency alarm. We were so embarressed & couldn't quit laughing as we walked back to our seats in the front. Even though our paths only occasionally crossed through the years, June was the kind of wonderful friend that you simply picked up where you left off. Sadly, the last time we spoke was in 2001 at the time of her Mom's death. I will miss our paths crossing in the future & hearing about my dear friends adventures. My condolences to all her loved ones, Cari Kleinpeter Luce
