Ina Alice Frisby Minimize

Ina Alice ("Cotton" Webber) Frisby, born June 29, 1919 in Keenes, Illinois to Charles Sumpter & Nettie Agnes Webber, was called to her heavenly home on August 29, 2010 at the age 91 years and 2 months at Spanish Cove Health Center, Yukon, Oklahoma where she had resided since 1999.

Graduating from Salem High School, Salem, Illinois in 1936 Ina worked with her brother Woodrow ("Fuzz) & sister Wanda ("Midge") at their East End CafĂ© during the
'oil boom' years of Salem.  In 1941 she married Joe L. Frisby, a Kansan native who followed the 'boom' as an oilfield contractor who was later hired by the Texaco Oil Company Refinery in rural Salem, Illinois.

Together Ina and Joe reared their son, Dan, and daughter, Jane, near the Texaco Oil Refinery until 1960 when her husband was transferred to the Texaco Refinery near Davenport, Oklahoma.  Joe and Ina lived in Stroud, Oklahoma many years before being transferred to Perryton, Texas to that Texaco Oil Refinery.  Ina and Joe retired in Yukon, Oklahoma at 101 Cottonwood Drive, just across the street from Spanish Cove until moving into Spanish Cove Retirement Village in 1999.

Ina was a devoted Christian filled with a generous and joyous faith which affirmed, encouraged and celebrated every person she came to know as a life to be cherished, a friend to be treasured and a soul to be encouraged by the blessings of her heart which bubbled with grace for each needy soul, with kindness for each painful heart, for comfort for each weary spirit and food to nourish the body, nurture the spirit and confirm each as
'family' and friend from one of God's own 'angel' messengers here on earth.

Through her faith Ina exemplified the genuine trust, the generous grace and the good heart of one who dares call themselves 'a follower of Christ'.  Ina never turned away a person or family in need; she never dismissed the slightest call for assistance or help and she never disappointed or detoured from her family's need!  Her hospitality of heart and home knew no boundaries while entertaining or comforting students or 'saints', friends of her children or passing strangers, parties of friends or gatherings of family or persons needing a friendly smile and a loving human touch!  She taught her children how to listen to hearts that were hurting, to listen to times that were changing, to listen to fears that had no voice of their own, and, mostly, to listen to God's Spirit for instruction, for inspiration and for investment into God's spiritual kingdom that would surely provide life's answers and needs.

Ina's father, Charles, 'nicknamed' each of his children and those 'names' became their 'identity of endearment' which they cherished in family and responded in pride throughout their lives each time they were called or honored by all family members!
Ina ('Cotton') Frisby is preceded in death by her parents, Charles ('Sump') & Nettie, by her siblings Woodrow ('Fuzz'), Charles, Jr. ('Monk'), Marjorie Koelker ('Kink) and Billie Gene('Shotgun') and her husband, Joe L. Frisby.  She is survived by her sisters: Geraldine Withrow ('Toots') and Wanda Gross ('Midge') in Illinois; Ina's son, Danny Joe of Oklahoma City and his son K. Michael Woodson (Mike) & wife Marcy of Moore, OK and their sons Griffin and Graham and son Daniel Aaron (Danny) & wife Brianna of Plains, KS and his sons Kyler, Slade and their son, Lucas and Ina's daughter, Janet Lee (Jane) Cockrum and husband Duane & children Minda Suzanne & husband Billy Landrith of Yukon & their children Justin & Samantha and their son, Marc & wife Racquel and his son Austin and Ina's loving 'Spanish Cove Staff & Resident Family', the gracious and gentle guidance of Frontier Hospice and dozens of nieces, nephews, family and friends who thank God for her life and faith.

Viewing will be held Wed., 10 am - 8 pm and Thurs. 9 am - 5 pm at the Yanda & Son Chapel, Yukon.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Fri., Sept. 3, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.

Comments:My mom lived in the Pavillion at Spanish Cove for 7 years. Our family got to know Ina well. It is said that whatever traits we have when we are younger are magnified when we age. For Ina, that meant getting sweeter and more Christlike in everything she said and did. What a joy it was to visit with her and be a recipient of her loving ways. I'm thankful I knew her. My condolences to you all. Prayerfully, Ann Wegener

Comments:I am Ann Wegener's sister, and, as she said, we got to know Ina from visiting our mom at Spanish Cove. We talked about her years in Salem, IL, and I told her that I always thought of her when we drove through Salem. Ina was a lovely person who radiated Christ's love, and my life is richer from having known her. May the God of all comfort give you comfort in your loss. Jeannie Kiefling
