Raymond Allen Thompson, 77, was born February 21, 1934 in Little Rock, AR, the son of William "Bill' and Christina "Chris" (Hild) Thompson. He went to be with the Lord, in his home on January 9, 2012, after a six month battle with stomach cancer.
Ray graduated from Midwest City High School in 1952. After working at Caterpillar and gaining knowledge, he was expertly trained in the Diesel Fuel Injection profession. Ray and his brother established Thompson Diesel in 1970, eventually opening five locations: two in Oklahoma, one in Texas and two in Kansas. Ray retired from Thompson Diesel in 1991 to enjoy travel across the US with Pat, his wife of 40 years.
Ray is survived by his wife and partner of 40 years, Pat Thompson; daughter, Glenetta Ausburn; sons, Eldon Foreman and Wayland Thompson; brother, Jim Thompson; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a large extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Ray Allen Thompson, Jr.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Yukon. Interment will follow at Yukon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Ray's name to the OU Cancer Institute (P.O. Box 26901, BRC West 1417, Oklahoma City, OK 73126-9968) would be greatly appreciated.
