Adelia Ione Fritts

Adelia Ione Fritts, 78, passed away August 26, 2022, in Yukon, Oklahoma.  She was born December 23, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas to parents Paul and Dessie Fritts.

Adelia graduated from Salina High Central in Kansas in 1961. She took the love of stories grown from years of her mom reading to her and went on to study English language and literature at York College. An avid learner, she continued her education at Oral Roberts University studying Literature and English and later attended Oregon State University where she studied adult education with an emphasis on teaching English as a second language. In 2016 she went back to school and graduated from Oral Roberts University with a master's in biblical literature.

Adelia dabbled in several careers, but her true passion was sharing her faith. She did this in multiple ways including writing bible curriculum for both adults and children, writing for a Christian magazine, and even published an autobiography sharing her journey. In recent years she taught a weekly bible study for her friends at Nina Willingham Senior Housing and was an active participant in the Ambassadors group at Discovery Church. Adelia also wrote multiple hymns and poems. In June she wrote a song to share with her church family.  Its words are a poignant reminder of her focus on Christ.

Adelia's hobbies found her combining her love of storytelling with her love of history. She was the family historian with a talent for researching genealogy, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, and the current secretary of the Oklahoma Home & Community Education Association of Canadian County. Adelia loved connecting with family, near and far, and cherished the relationships formed through all these activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald Fritts and wife Mary; brother, Ray Fritts; sister, Winona and husband Keith Armstrong, and sister Wauneta and husband Gene Swinney. Adelia is survived by her sister, Thelda and husband Sid Watson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2022 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Discovery Church (900 East Main) in Yukon with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
