Barbara Ocena Gee

Barbara Ocena Gee, age 92, passed from this life on Friday, July 15, 2022 in Yukon, OK. She was born August 9, 1929 in Hollis OK, the daughter of Otha and Geneva (Pierce) Wilson. Ocena was a graduate of Arnett High School where she excelled at basketball and softball and loved to ride horses, she taught her cousin Shirley Smith how to ride. On September the 6, 1947 she married the love of her life James (Dick) Gee.  Since Dick was in the Army her life changed dramatically from being a small town country girl to traveling and living in many states even moving as far away as Germany.  During this time they had 4 children:  Sherida, Sheila, Richard and Darren. She always enjoyed sports, and raising a garden. She spent many years watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities. She was a big supporter to all the Hollis athletic teams.

Ocena and Dick were very active in the First Baptist Church, where they enjoyed teaching the young married couples classes. They also spent many hours serving the community in whatever capacity that was needed. Ocena's main love was her family.  She enjoyed nothing better than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and relatives. She had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. We can all be at ease knowing she is in a better place and a place she wanted to be.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Gee; her mother and father, Otha and Geneva Wilson, and one brother, Ewell Wilson. She is survived by her daughters, Sherida Rankin and Sheila Dennis both of Yukon, OK; sons, James R. Gee and his wife Robbie of Yukon, OK, and Darren Gee and his wife Lea Ann of Nixa, MO; grandchildren:  Tina Howard, Rebecca Gayhart, Carl Rankin, Melissa Somerville, Robin Lewallen, Terra Stewart, Royce Edmiaston, Trey Gee, Blake Gee and Bailea Gee, and  great-grandchildren:  Forest, Samantha, Jessica, Tripp, Hayden, Brooke, Allie, Kalei, Landon, Paislea, Eli and Luke, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Memorials can be donated in her honor to the Hollis School Foundation.

Viewing will be held beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Hollis, OK. Interment will follow at the McKnight Cemetery, Hollis, OK.
