Barbara Ann Hietpas

Barbara Ann Hietpas, a devoted servant of faith, family, and community, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Barbara was born to Harold and Germaine Schumacher on January 12, 1954, in Appleton, Wisconsin, and grew up in Little Chute, WI. In those early years, she developed her strong family values, compassion for others, and her deep, abiding Catholic faith. After graduating high school, she moved to Albuquerque, NM, then to Oklahoma City, OK, and eventually settled in Yukon, OK, where she built a beautiful life rooted in love and service.

Barbara was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Whether at work, volunteering, spending time with her theater group, taking road trips with her best friends, or creating cherished memories with her children and grandchildren, she lived her life with kindness and unwavering faith. Her warm smile and gentle spirit were a source of comfort to everyone she met and will be deeply missed.

Barbara was also a dedicated and hardworking employee, known for her integrity, reliability, and gracious spirit in the workplace. Most of her career was spent as an office manager with Action Safety Supply Co., LLC, AAA Electric, and Walther Construction.

Some of Barbara's greatest pride and deepest joy came from raising her two sons, Greg and Glenn. This joy was perhaps only surpassed by her role as a grandmother—lovingly known as Gram or Gramma. She guided her children and grandchildren with wisdom, prayed over them faithfully, and supported them unconditionally.

Barbara dedicated countless hours to serving others through her deep involvement in the Catholic Church and community ministries. She was a Stephen Minister for many years, offering comfort and spiritual guidance to those in need. A tireless volunteer, she served with Sister BJ's Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Social Ministry at Saint John Nepomuk, where she was also a faithful weekly adorer in the Adoration Chapel for many years.

Her devotion to prayer was unmatched—she led the rosary before Mass, prayed the rosary at funerals, and nurtured a deep prayer life that inspired others. She was a Religious Education teacher for many years, joyfully sharing her faith with younger generations.

Her generosity extended beyond church walls. Barbara drove disabled parishioners to church and to doctors' appointments, served as a Beginning Experience team leader for over a decade, and volunteered with Calm Waters for more than 10 years, supporting families through grief and loss.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Germaine Schumacher. She is survived by her sister Joan (Gene) VanderZanden of Kaukauna, WI; her sons Greg (Jodi) Hietpas of Oklahoma City, OK and Glenn (Shanon) Hietpas of Yukon, OK; her three beloved grandchildren, Gage, Karly, and Wyatt; and many loving nephews and nieces.

Barbara will be remembered for her servant's heart, her deep faith, and her ability to bring light into every room.

A vigil and rosary service will be held at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24th. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25th at St. John's. A live stream will be available for the funeral service at www.sjnok.org.
