Bentley Edward Roy

Bentley (Ben) Edward Roy was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on November 4, 1941. He was an only child, raised by his mother, Maxine, and father, Robert E. Roy. He served in the U.S. Navy for a short time prior to attending Okmulgee Technical School, where he studied electronics. He worked as a DJ for the local radio station in Okmulgee, where he also met his future wife, June Ann Warnock. Ben and June were married on January 4, 1965, in his parent's home. At this time, Ben became part of a much larger family, since June had nine brothers and sisters. He served in law enforcement for various local police and sheriff departments. Ben accepted a position with Pacific Telephone, where he worked as an electronics technician and transferred to A.T. & T., where he retired as a supervisor after 35 years of service. His work took the family to various states over the years: Texas, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, California, New Jersey and Oklahoma, where they have lived the past 26 years. Ben was a huge car enthusiast and spent time on ham radio talking to people all over the world. He taught karate and had a black belt. Over the years, Ben enjoyed travel, camping, hunting and fishing, scuba diving, water skiing, playing games and spending time with his family and friends, especially their three children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He also had much love for the family pets. Ben was active in the Oklahoma Pilots Association and the First Christian Church of Yukon. He also had a special place in his heart for the IOA Boys Ranch. At 80 years of age, Ben passed away in his home on Monday, May 16, after a few years of declining health. Ben was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene, and mother, Maxine Audrey. Ben is survived by his wife of 57 years, June Ann Roy; daughter, Carol Ann Fewell and husband, Gary, of Fort Worth; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Biggs and husband, Brent, of Broken Arrow; son, David Eugene Roy and wife, Julie, of Yukon; grandchildren:  Brandon Lutz and wife, Lindsay; Lauren Enriquez and husband, Rob; Audra LeeAnn Fewell; Brady Biggs and wife, Sarah; Blake Biggs and wife, Kelsi; Brett Biggs and Ian Roy, and great-grandchildren, Ellie and Cooper. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ben's name may be made to the First Christian Church of Yukon. Visitation and viewing is at Yanda Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 18, from 4-7 p.m. Celebration of Life is Sunday, May 22, 2 p.m., at First Christian Church, Yukon. A private family burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, where Ben will be laid to rest in the family plot.
