Beverly Kroutil Yates

Beverly Kroutil Yates of Oklahoma City was taken home peacefully on April 18th at the age of 95.  Beverly was born June 30, 1929 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Millard and Grace Harper.  The family relocated to OKC in her early childhood where Millard was in the grocery business.  Her early life revolved around her devotion to Christ where she attended Trinity Baptist Church.  She was a Classen High School graduate where she had many life-long friends.  Beverly attended Oklahoma University and majored in theater.  She belonged to Delta Gamma Sorority.  During her college years, she worked and was on the college fashion board for John A Brown department store.

Beverly met and married William R. "Bill" Kroutil after college and settled in Yukon, Oklahoma during 1953 into a new home on Poplar Street.  Her life revolved around homemaking and dedication to her family.  She was a member of the "Knitters" and enjoyed good times with her Yukon friends along with a little knitting!  Beverly was an active member of First Christian Church in Yukon and served in leadership roles including Christian Women's Fellowship.  Her strong Christian faith was evident with her being selected as one of the first woman elders in the church.  Beverly was a devoted wife and mother and provided excellent care to Bill before his early death in 1979.

Beverly married Carlyle Yates in 1986 where she supported him in his work on various boards for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) regional ministries.  Beverly served as an elder at New Covenant Christian Church in OKC.  As Carlyle was a founding member of New Covenant, she supported him in this role and traveled to Disciples of Christ national conventions.  She traveled with Carlyle supporting mission trips to the Dominican Republic to help optical patients in a local mission started by Carlyle's brother.  Beverly and Carlyle enjoyed traveling within the U.S. and abroad.  She loved and supported Carlyle in their retirement years and through his battle with Alzheimer's and death in 2011.

Beverly moved to Epworth Villa in OKC in April 2011.  She connected with new and former friends at Epworth. She loved participating in OU football parties. She was a sports fan of football, golf, and OKC Thunder basketball.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two spouses, William R. Kroutil and Carlyle Yates; sister, Pat Snyder; and son-in-law,   James W. Kilpatric.  Beverly is survived by her children: Robert Kroutil and wife Bettie of Olathe, KS; Shelley Kilpatric of Yukon, OK; and granddaughter Megan Kilpatric of Yukon, OK.  She was stepmother to Carlyle's children: Alan Yates and wife Linda, Seattle, WA; Dr. Carlan Yates and wife Debi, Edmond, OK; Dr. Gaylan Yates and wife Pam, Edmond, OK; and Joy McCarthy and husband Michael, Kailua, HI.  She had 13 loving grandchildren from the marriage with Carlyle.
