Billy Jack Adams

Billy Jack Adams (BJ) of Yukon, Oklahoma was born in Wagoner, Oklahoma on November 13, 1948 and passed away on September 20, 2024 at his home. BJ was born to Charlie O. Adams and Leola May (Wilkey) Adams. BJ graduated from Independence Kansas high school in 1966. He joined the Air Force in 1967 and served for a total of 23 years which he enjoyed every minute of. BJ was a Vietnam veteran as well as a member of multiple Air Force units, some of which have since been declassified. The first was the 4477th Red Eagles which involved flying MIGs against American pilots to train fellow pilots before deployment to Vietnam leading to the writing of America's Secret MiG Squadron, a book written about the project, and is now in the Air Force Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. Then, BJ was assigned to the sixth tactical intelligence group in Korea. This unit was tasked with gathering intelligence against the North Koreans. BJ notes this being a very interesting year for him. Upon his return, he was assigned to the 4450 tactical fighting group which entailed flying the F-117 aircraft, designed to evade radar. BJ enjoyed this assignment tremendously.

After retiring from the Air Force, BJ worked for BDM-Oklahoma in Bartlesville, OK in operations for 4 years until its closure. BJ also worked for the City of Tulsa and the City of Bartlesville before retiring.

Hobbies of BJ included his first love of Scuba Diving, and close to Scuba Diving was his second love of riding his Honda Goldwing Trike. BJ read all types of books. BJ also loved sending time with his wife Patty and both of his sons and grandchildren.

BJ was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Norma Jean (Adams) Clubine and Joyace Ann (Adams) Gordon and one brother Thomas Edward Adams. BJ is survived by his wife Patricia Wellwood-Adams; son Jack Adams of Las Vegas, Nevada, his wife Micah their son Griffin and daughter Rian; his other son Kevin Wellwood, of Yukon, Oklahoma, his wife Kristin, and daughter Millie; Three sisters Glenda (Adams) Burkhart of Texarkana, Texas, Janell (Adams) Dailey of Murrieta, CA, and Peggy Adams of Mannford, Oklahoma.

A Viewing will be held from 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home, 1500 W. Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK 73099. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 30, 2024, at the same location. Inurnment will take place at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 4, 2024 at Fort Sill National Cemetery and will include full military honors.
