Billy Glenn Cerny

Billy Glenn Cerny, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home on June 17th, 2024 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was born in Okarche, Oklahoma to Glenn and Rosie Cerny on October 2, 1957. Bill is survived by Diane Cerny, his wife of 46 years, his mother Rosie Moore, brother John Cerny, children Jacob Glenn Cerny and his wife Briana Cerny of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Valerie Loraine Sealey and husband Brian Sealey of Yukon, Oklahoma, in addition to the lights of his life - grandchildren Savannah Sealey, Daniel Sealey, Ella Cerny, and Laura Cerny. Bill is preceded in death by many family members including his father, Glenn Amos Cerny, and sister, Lori Jane Cerny.

Bill was known for his lively and caring nature. It was common to see him go out of his way to help someone or to just add enjoyment to their day. As a child, Bill loved playing all sports including football, baseball, and basketball. He continued his love of helping others and sports by becoming a high school teacher and coaching many sports including football, track, tennis, and baseball. He taught and coached for 36 years at Mustang, Putnam City West, and Yukon High School where he impacted the lives of many people. After his retirement in 2016, he traveled to Ravensburg, Germany, to assist his lifelong friend, John Gilligan, coaching American football, in which they won the German National Championship in 2018.

Always on the go, Bill loved gardening, golfing, fishing, and anything active outdoors. He could be found sunup to sundown tending to his On gardens. His green thumb was legendary among friends and family, who often sought his advice or enjoyed his harvest. Retirement years brought time for his golf game. Weather permitting, he could be found daily sharing a round with good friends Randall Lokey, Rod Henning, and Jim Danner. After golf he would head home and get right back to work in his gardens or enjoy giving his time to help friends, family, and especially grandchildren with a project.

The love of Bill's life was his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Nothing made him happier than family time. Bill and his grandchildren were always up to something fun or enjoying a sweet treat with their "Coach". He and Diane were so blessed to spend time each week with their children and grandchildren. Bill will be forever remembered for his humor, love, and courage.

Celebration of life services will be held at Grace Church – Episcopal, 600 N. Mustang Road, Yukon, Oklahoma on Monday, June 24th at 10:00am.
