Carl J. Aday

Carl was born on February 10, 1932, to Rufus and Lois Aday in Pansy, Missouri, and passed away on March 16, 2025. He grew up in Missouri, attending school there until moving to Oklahoma, where he completed his education. He later worked at B&B Lumber Company in Shawnee, learning the carpentry trade until entering the Army in 1956. He was trained to drive the Army's medium tank. He passed the .30 and .50 caliber machine gun proficiency tests and qualified as a gunner in the firing of the 90-millimeter tank gun. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in May 1958. He then returned to work at B&B Lumber Company. Later that year, he met and married Juanna Jean Shaffer, and together they raised three daughters.

Moving from Shawnee to Yukon in 1963 opened up new opportunities for him while employed for approximately 10 years by C. Jack Harris Development in Oklahoma City. He later became a self-employed trim carpenter for many years in Yukon and surrounding areas. He also built and sold homes before retiring in 2001. He was a devoted family man and truly enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and neighbors, always willing to help where needed. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and gardening. Additionally, the restoration of older Volkswagens became a rewarding hobby after his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers: James, Kenneth, Bill, Jackie, Richard, and Roscoe, and one granddaughter, Starla Garcia. Survivors include his wife of over sixty-six years, Jean, of the home; three daughters: Twila Tiroch of Moore, Oklahoma; Judy Richardson of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; and Sherry Power of Buckeye, Arizona; as well as four grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

A funeral service to honor his memory will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, OK with Interment to follow at 3:00 P.M., at Tecumseh Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
