Carl Gene Herd

Carl Gene Herd, also widely known as Buffalo, was born in Davenport, OK on September 5, 1937 to Edith and Doss Herd. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8 ^th , 2022 surrounded by his family, at the age of 84.   He is preceded in death, by his mother, Edith, father, Doss, brother, Donald Wayne Herd, and grandson, Benjamin Herd.  He is survived by his wife, Gayle Herd of Yukon, OK; son, Daniel Herd, wife Shelli and family of Yukon, OK; son, Sam Herd and family of Blanchard, OK; daughter, Carlene Herd Lindsey, husband John and family of Edmond, OK; stepdaughter, Dianne Minnis, husband Jeff and family of Cookson, OK, and stepson, David Carel, wife Stephanie and family of Edmond, OK.  Carl is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Carl graduated from Davenport High School in 1955 and joined the Navy. He served active duty until 1957 and then was in the Navy Reserve until 1961.   He resided in California and moved to Yukon, OK in 1959.  He attended El Reno junior college and worked for Capitol Steel in Oklahoma City.   In 1960 he started working for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent as a Supervisor and retired from there after 35 years.  Carl enjoyed family gatherings, golf, baseball, OU football and making people laugh.  He was very well known as a practical joker among many friends and family.  He was so very loved by his family and many friends.  He always brought joy and laughter to everyone he knew.  Family meant the world to him and he loved every minute when he was with his loved ones.  He will be greatly missed but remembered with so many wonderful memories and love.

A viewing will be held at Yanda and Son Funeral Home in Yukon OK on Tuesday, June 14 ^th from 1-8 pm. Funeral services to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, June 15 ^th at 1 pm at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
