Carol Tallant

Carol Tallant of Yukon, Oklahoma, went home to be with our wonderful Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, January 16th, at the age of 91.  She was born in Tomah, Wisconsin to parents Arthur Day and Sadie Gallarno on July 26, 1933.  While working as a waitress in her family's owned restaurant in Camp McCoy, she met the love of her life, Jay, an army soldier who was stationed at the camp while recuperating from an injury received in the Korean Conflict.  They married on May 3, 1952, and moved to Yukon, Oklahoma where they started their family.  To this union, three children were born: son James, and daughters Barbara and Pam.

Carol was known for her devotion to her family and church.  She was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist church in Yukon.  She loved teaching Sunday school to the youth of the church.  She also had the responsibility of managing the family alone for long periods of time while her husband traveled for his civil service job.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years; her sister Jenny; and several half brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her 3 children (all of Yukon); a sister Ruby Jerdee of Florida; 2 grandsons Jason Brower and wife Brittany; Justin Brower and wife Laura; five great grandchildren: Boyd, Berkley, Brynlee, Briella, and Brooks; several nieces and nephews; and her wonderful caregivers: Geneva Gililland, Sara Hutcherson, Shelly Williams, and Brenda Grulkey. Carol and her family loved and appreciated the wonderful care these ladies provided which allowed her to remain in the comfort of her own home despite deteriorating health over the past 2 ½ years. They were her "girls" and are now forever family!

Words cannot express how much she was loved and how deeply she will be missed.

The viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025 at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at Mathewson Cemetery, Piedmont, OK.
