Cathy Ann Stanford

Cathy Stanford, 65, of Yukon Oklahoma, entered the gates of Gods Kingdom on Sunday July 9th, 2023.  She was born January 1st, 1958, in Henryetta Oklahoma.

Cathy, the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother is survived by her husband Randy Stanford of 47 years, sons, Christopher Stanford and his wife Julie, son David Stanford and her three grandchildren Gabriel, Rachel and Michael, all of whom she loved throughout her life. Cathy is also survived by her mother Peggy Wimbish of Tulsa, sister Conny Birdsong and husband Walter of Shawnee Oklahoma, her Brother Richard Thomas Apker of Cleveland Oklahoma and his son, her nephew Richard Thomas Apker II, her niece Christy Stanford and her husband Christopher Harrison.

Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents Vincent and Hazel Wilson of Okmulgee Oklahoma, Her stepfather Bud Wimbish and her dear Aunt Betty Wilson Allen of Texas.

Cathy is survived by a very large number of other family member whom she both supported and loved.

It is fitting that Cathy has traveled across the border into the hands of God, as Cathy was a world traveler and loved to see new things and new people.  Cathy has been to Japan, Germany, France, Italy, England, Switzerland and countless other in her desire to explore.

Cathy enjoyed people and children so much she made it life's work to be a teacher.  She began that path in Weatherford Oklahoma.  Cathy had the natural talent and charisma to make a new friend no matter the situation. When an opportunity presented itself, she became a special needs teacher in Mustang Oklahoma.  This new mentorship Cathy was providing became one of her greatest and most rewarding joys.  Cathy has many friends in both Weatherford High School and Mustang Highschool.

Cathy was a selfless woman whose passing will leave an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones.  Her ability to sacrifice, provide, support and love will forever be engrained in all those she knew.

We cannot forget that Cathy too loved to sing.  And sing she did in her church choir.  She loved singing in the choir so much, that her sister Conny will tell you Cathy would forgo doing things with Conny because Cathy was too busy getting ready to sing in the choir.

Cathy was truly a great woman who focused on providing "her children" with the best possible life without worrying for herself.  Most will never know the sacrifices Cathy made in life, Satan tried to take her legs from her, but she stood strong against evil and affliction, strong with the love of God in her heart and mind.  On Sunday, the angels sang a joyous tune, Jesus rolled her stone away, so Cathy could walk together with Jesus into the arms of a loving father, God.

A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at the funeral home. Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, at the First United Methodist Church, Yukon, OK.
