Chlovesta McClain

Chlovesta (Chlo) McClain was born in Terral, Oklahoma on April 8, 1928, to John and Sadie Stephenson. She died on July 14, 2026, after a brief illness.

Chlo grew up in southern Oklahoma and graduated from Healdton High School in 1946. She worked as a telephone operator in Healdton. She married Billy McClain on June 23, 1946, in Duncan, Oklahoma and was a homemaker and beloved mother to three children. Billy and Chlo were married for 68 years until his death in 2014.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.

Chlo was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; parents, John and Sadie; brother, John Robert; sisters, Allie, Josephine, Mozelle, Ruby, and June; and son, Billy.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Poynor and Barbara Beebe, both of Oklahoma City. She also leaves four grandchildren: Eli Poynor, Claire Nguyen, Lacey Poynor, and John Beebe; five great-grandchildren: Carter, Ethan, Jacob Poynor and Margaret and Sadie Nguyen; and many other special family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Resurrection Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with interment following.
