Curtis Nelson

Retired Staff Sergeant Curtis Nelson has finished his final mission and hung up his boots. Yesterday my beloved husband passed away unexpectedly at home. He was also a retired Journeyman commercial sprinkler fitter with Local 669 Roadsprinklers and Fitters.

Curtis journeyed to many places throughout his life but his favorite place to be was with his family. Harley Davidson was a very big love in his life, and we spent many hours out on the road. For a decade we lived in Colorado and he loved it. Harley days turned into jeep days in the mountains.

Duty called once again when he joined me in Oklahoma to care for my parents, Bob Graham and Charlotte Graham. After that we settled back in Oklahoma. We were still mourning my mother who died in January.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Janice Nelson and his three children, Jeremy Nelson and wife Holly, Amy DeManicor, and Garland Nelson. He was very proud to be a grandfather and leaves behind his much-loved grandchildren Lukas Nelson, Nathaniel Nelson, Gavin DeManicor, and Bella DeManicor. Curtis is survived as well by his brother, Wayne Nelson and many cousins across multiple states.

He also leaves behind his lovingly spoiled Aussiedoodle, Missy.

He is predeceased by his mother, Shirley Nelson and Vernon Nelson, one brother, Garland Dale Nelson, and son-in-law, Christopher DeManicor.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK.
