Cynthia Joyce Clopton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Cynthia Joyce Clopton, on June 23, 2024, at the age of 67. A devoted Wife, Momma, Nana, Sissy, Aunt and Friend, who made a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was born in Madisonville, Texas on July 23, 1956, to Joyce (Dominy) Starns and Leonard Gale Starns. She dedicated her life first to the Lord and next to her family, friends, career and community. Cindy married Gene Clopton on June 27, 1975. They welcomed one son, Chad Clopton in 1977 and made their home in Yukon, Oklahoma in 1983. Gene was employed by Bovard Oil Field Supply and Cindy began working for Peoples Nation Bank under Sam Hillhouse, who encouraged her to continue her education. Cindy graduated from SMU Banking School in 1999. Upon graduation she spent her entire banking career in Yukon, working for various banks including First State Bank. Cindy spent the last twelve years enjoying every minute with her BOK family, customers, and opportunities to give back to the community through the bank. One of her biggest passions was sponsoring Build My Future, whose mission is to encourage the youth in Central Oklahoma by inspiring them to pursue professional careers in skilled trades and raise awareness of the home building industry. She was an avid member of the Chamber of Commerce volunteering at local community events. She was deeply involved with the community, where her generosity and dedication helped to change countless lives.

Cindy started playing the piano when she was 3 years old. She was an accomplished pianist, playing for her church for over twenty years. She cherished this time with her church band and stayed close with many from their church to this day. Music was her life's passion, and she was very proud to have composed and published numerous Christian songs.

Her devotion for helping others was matched only by her love for her family, especially her husband, Gene her best friend and high school sweetheart. Gene was completely devoted to his bride of 49 years this week. He was by her side, taking care of her, from the moment they met until she took her last breath.

Cindy's son, Chad Allen, was her pride and joy and they were extremely close. She thoroughly enjoyed attending all of his sporting events. She loved being "Momma Chops" to all of his friends and OSU football teammates. Cindy continued to be a mother figure and advisor to many of Chad's friends and their wives over the years. She treated all their children like her own. Gene and Cindy were blessed by a bonus son, Creighton Gary, in 1994, who has been part of the family as Uncle Creig ever since. Cindy was an incredible mother-in-law and best friend to Chad's wife, Tara Clopton. She was the most amazing Nana to Lainey Reese, her only grandchild. This was her most proud accomplishment and everyone knew this by how much she spoke of her granddaughter.

Cindy was most happy spending time with family and friends, telling stories and she loved to laugh.  She enjoyed live music, Broadway plays, planning trips and activities to do with Lainey, family and her closest friends. Nana and Lainey always baked together, they built homemade gingerbread houses and made cookies for friends and family every Christmas.  Cindy liked all sports, she attended every sport/activity Lainey participated in, cheering on her and her friends. She enjoyed entertaining and traditions like hosting an annual 4th of July cookout and watching the fireworks show from their driveway, adjacent to the Yukon Park, where she and Gene lived for over 20 years.  She cherished her close friendships, always staying in touch, planning special birthday lunches and keeping up with the "Dream Team" from work. And where Nana was there was always Papa, they did absolutely everything together.

Cindy was the heart and soul of our family, always there with a warm hug, wise advice, and an infectious smile that could brighten the darkest days. Her selfless spirit and unwavering support were constants that we could always rely on.

She is reunited in heaven with, her parents, Leonard and Joyce Starns; brother, Freddy Starns; Godmother Mrs. Faye Merriweather; lifelong best friend and Chad's Godmother Georganna Bozeman. We trust she is now at peace.

Cindy will be deeply missed by her husband, Gene Clopton; son and daughter in law, Chad and Tara Clopton, Edmond, OK; son, Creig Gary Cave Creek, AZ; granddaughter, Lainey Clopton, Edmond, OK; brother, Tommy and Cindy Starns, Midway, TX; Goddaughters, Brenna and Chandler Young, Yukon, OK; and beloved dog Maggie, as well as many extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy of love and giving.

A celebration of Cindy's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 28th, 2024, at Covenant Community Church in Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon. A viewing will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday June 27th at Yanda and Son Funeral Home, Yukon, OK.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to BOK in her memory, continuing to support the causes she so loved.  Though she is no longer with us in body, Cindy's spirit of compassion and her unwavering dedication to philanthropy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
