Cynthia Louisa Jennings

Yukon lost a beautiful, kindhearted, unforgettable woman when Cynthia Louisa Jennings passed away Monday afternoon at the age of 63. She was surrounded by her husband, four beloved children, granddaughter, sister, niece, nephew, and friends, holding her and comforting her as she transcended this life on July 1, 2024. Cynthia Louisa Jennings (Maiden name Adams) entered this world on April 6, 1961, in Grants, New Mexico. Born to Melvin E. Adams, Sr., and Emilia Mirabal Adams, she was preceded in birth by Jalana (b1953-d1957), Debra (1954), Mel (1956), Calvin (1957), and Joe (1958), and Norman (1963).

Cindy was a beautiful little girl with long auburn curls, quiet at home, but readily made friends at school. She completed grade school in Moore, OK and graduated from Norman High School, but not before she met the love of her life, David Jonathan Jennings, at age 16. Her father at first attempted to intervene in their relationship, but it was true love and Cindy stood her ground, moving away from home and in with her best friend Susan on her 18th birthday. Her mother Emilia was in total support of her and David (she of course made amends with her beloved Dad) and so the wedding was on!

Cynthia married David Jennings on July 28,1979 and they set-up their initial home in NW Oklahoma City. With no immediate plans for children, they frequently seized and spoiled their niece, her sister's daughter, Erin. The happy couple  welcomed their first son, Jonathan Ryan in October of 1983. Wanting to grow their family and raise their children in a safe environment with good schools, they moved to Yukon in 1984. In June 1985 they welcomed the birth of their second son, David Joshua. A year later, in July 1986, Cindy experienced the devastating loss of her mother. Her first daughter, Rachel Lanae, joined the family in November 1990. In 1994, the family relocated to the Parkland neighborhood, into the house that remains the family home to this day. In February 1997, they welcomed the runt of the family, their second daughter, Carlie Michelle.

Motherhood came naturally to Cindy. From the first breath of her first child, she was a fiercely protective Mama bear. Her children would remain her number one priority throughout her life. She was living proof that a mother's love is endless and without boundaries.

Cindy longed to be a grandmother and was ecstatic at the arrival of her first grandchild Eleonore (daughter of Rachel & Thomas) born in France in June 2019. Cindy could not wait to hop on the next plane to Europe to meet her. She had to wait a few years for the next one, but in April of 2024 her first grandson Jigme (son Josh & Dolker) was born in New Orleans. Due to her illness she was unable to visit him, and she passed less than 24 hours after his arrival to Yukon to spend the summer with her. In the final months of her life she was also was united with a 16-year-old granddaughter, Noelle McMichael (daughter of Jonathan), whom the family discovered through Ancestry.com and has since been embraced and welcomed by the family.

Words cannot begin to describe Cindy. She could be a wife, juggle four children, work as a nurse full time and still have time to make memories, always with a smile on her face.

Cindy graduated from OSU with an ADN in 1989, earning her BSN from OU in 1992. She continued with her busy life, never giving up on her education until she earned her MBA from Oklahoma Christian University in 2008. Cindy loved her chosen career of nursing. Her compassion and caring nature, not to mention her ability to remain calm with coworkers, helped her transition smoothly from the ICU to Labor and Delivery to management and eventually to home health in the latter years of her life. No matter where she worked her patients loved her and became part of her extended family.

Cindy's love and compassion wasn't restricted to humans. She loved animals of all kinds, including her cat Sophia, her many dogs, but especially her horses, Kelly and Sadie. No matter what the weather, she went to talk to them, feed them and love on them every day. It was hard to tell who loved who the most. One of the most difficult things her family ever had to do was to find a new home for her horses during the chaos of her illness – they were donated to the House of Healing, to be of use in Equine-assisted therapy for at-risk youth.

Cindy worked hard until her illness made it impossible, though she continued to insist, even when she could no longer walk or lift her hand, that she would return to nursing. She loved cruises, traveling to France to visit her daughter Rachel's family, visiting her son Joshua in various countries, visiting extended family in various states, as well as many crazy, hilarious road trips with her sister Debbie or friend Sherri Segler and car loads of kids. She had many interests, including travel and photography, but the primary focus throughout her life never wavered from her family.

Cindy is preceded in death by her mother Emilia M. Adams, father Melvin E. Adams, sister Jalana Adams, brother Calvin Adams, brother Joe Adams, and nephew Shaun Adams.

Survivors include husband David Jennings, son Jonathan Jennings of Yukon , son Joshua Jennings & wife Dolker of New Orleans, daughter Rachel Coudron & husband Thomas of France, daughter Carlie Jennings & partner Gary Thomas of Edmond, grandchildren Eleonore Coudron, Jigme Jennings and Noelle McMichael, Sister Debbie Adams Cook & husband Tim Farley of Yukon, brother Mel Adams of Yukon, brother Norman Adams of Oklahoma City, niece Erin Elizabeth Cook & husband Marty Kraham of Oklahoma City, nephew Chris Cook & wife Miranda of Edmond, niece Lauren Cook Osinski & husband Stephen of Hawaii, nieces Emily & Christina Adams & nephew Joseph Adams of Oklahoma City, nephew Loren J Adams of Tulsa, a vast extended family and too many friends to count.

Cindy was a unique source of light in this world and will be missed immeasurably. Please join us as we celebrate her life at a memorial service with a reception to follow. Her ashes will later be interred at the Yukon Cemetery, alongside her brother Calvin.

Services will be held Monday, July 8 at 2:00 pm at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 1500 W. Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK. Reception to follow at her family home in Yukon.
