Cynthia Ann Johnson

Cynthia Ann (Ragland) Johnson, age 83, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was born on October 6, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Cynthia Ann Johnson came to Yukon to live with her daughter in 2014 after her husband passed away. She had been living in Tennessee since 1991. Cynthia was born to Jessie Muriel (Frazier) and Hal Emerson Ragland (writer/columnist for the Daily Oklahoman). Due to her father's extended illness, she was forced to drop out of high school as a senior and help support the family. She never gave up and completed her high school education in Tennessee, finally receiving her long-awaited diploma. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since 1977, and loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, for the rest of her life.

Cynthia was married to Tony Ray Murphy of Oklahoma City from 1960 until 1967, with whom she had three children: Mark, Elizabeth, and Michael. She was married to Fred Ray Steputis from 1967 until 1987, with whom she had one child, Fredrick Steputis. She moved to Tennessee in 1991 and married Jeff Johnson, where she would work and enjoy the outdoors, as well as helping out at her sister Martha's sanctuary for wounded birds of prey. Cynthia loved music and movies, including Elvis, the Rolling Stones, Marty Robbins, David Bowie, and many others in both the early days of rock and roll and country, as well as old movies. She loved to dance and she was a bit of a rock hound, the evidence of which is to be found among her belongings still. She loved the American West, as showed in her taste in art. She was quick-witted, intelligent, and funny, laughing even at jokes about herself. She was a patriotic citizen, and loved that two of her children served in the military, as well as her sister and nephews. Cynthia was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved the frequent visits and hugs and news of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jessie (Frazier) and Hal Ragland; husband Jeff Johnson; son Mark Aaron Murphy; grandchildren Lauren Elizabeth Murphy and Spencer Ryan Murphy; sisters Alice Rose, Mary Beth, and Martha; and brothers Walter and John.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Jim Rains) Givens; sons, Michael Murphy and Fredrick Steputis; step-daughters, Jeanette Ryan and Tonya (Bill) Hartigan; grandchildren, Ashley (Aaron) Jaques, Megan (Jimmy) Cozart, Zachary Givens, Solana (Alex) Murphy-Simons, Olivia (Elijah) Larson, Oakley Murphy, Aidan (New) Steputis, and Lily Steputis; great-grandchildren, Elijah Cozart, Lucas Cozart, Rowan Jaques, and Lakynn Jaques; brother Roger (Lonnie) Ragland; brother-in-law Alan Rush, sister-in-law Linda Ragland, and a host of nieces and nephews.
