Danny Dean Goodman

Danny Dean Goodman passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 21, 2024, returning to his heavenly home at the age of 79.

Danny was born on the Goodman Family Farm on September 1, 1945, in Yukon, Oklahoma. He graduated from Yukon High School in 1963 and Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics in 1967. He was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity.

Danny married Pam Cheatham on January 26, 1968. Danny started his military career in the United States Navy in 1968. He served his country as a ship navigator and was a Lieutenant Junior Grade, the second commissioned officer rank in the Navy.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1970, Danny and Pam returned to Yukon with their daughter Nicci. Along with their other two children Melissa and Jerod, Danny and Pam lived on the family farm where Danny owned and successfully managed a mixed crop-livestock operation at the time of his passing.

Danny was a charter member of the Shook Memorial United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City and most currently was a deacon of the First Christian Church in Yukon. He was an avid supporter of 4-H and FFA and often helped his children and grandchildren with their agriculture projects. Danny coached little league sports teams for his children and served for years as president of the Mid-Continent Coop and swine superintendent for the Canadian County Junior Livestock Show. He was a member of the Yukon FFA Parents Club, Oklahoma State University Alumni Association and OSU Posse Club.

Danny was honored for his many contributions to the Yukon FFA Chapter and was named Cooperative Director of the Year from Triangle Cooperative Service Company. Danny and Pam were recognized as the Farm Family of the Year from Canadian County Farm Bureau in 1995.

Danny loved attending Oklahoma State athletic events, square dancing with Pam, fishing and hunting. Most important to him was spending quality time with his family and friends. Danny was a devoted husband, an amazing Dad to his three children and wonderful Poppa to his four grandchildren. He was a hero to his three sisters, a role model to his nephews and Uncle Perfect to his nieces. Danny loved unconditionally with a bit of orneriness and was a loyal and trusted friend. He was often a voice of reason and wisdom.

Danny is preceded in death by his daughter Nicci; his parents, Carl and Agnes; brother-in-law Linn; his mother-in-law Betty, his father-in-law Clyde; and step-mother-in-law Molly.

Danny is survived by his wife Pam of 56 years, daughter Melissa Griffin and her husband Robert, and son Jerod Goodman and his wife Megan, all of Yukon. He is also survived by grandchildren Hayden and Mason Griffin and Addison and Joe Goodman; sisters Kay Corbin (Dennis), Bobbi Buchanan (Larry), and Reta Manning (Glenn); sister-in-law Kathy Kachelmeyer (Mike); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Danny's life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 27, at the First Christian Church, Yukon, with interment following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City, OK.
