Darlene Evelyn Anderson

Darlene Evelyn (Hindman) Anderson, age 92, passed from this life on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in Yukon, OK. She was born on December 4, 1930, in Hooker, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Claude and Jessie Hindman.  Darlene was raised primarily in Pratt, Kansas.  She had one brother, Eugene Hindman (deceased) and one sister, Marguerite Stone (deceased).  She and her husband, Roy E. Anderson, were married for 57 years until his passing in 2006.  They were blessed with three children: Sharon Lee, Bruce Alan, and Kurt Malcolm.  She and her family moved from Wichita, Kansas and settled in Mustang, Oklahoma in 1972, moving finally to Yukon in 1990.  She worked for many years as a preschool teacher at Mustang Methodist Church.  In 1992, she and her daughter, Sharon Beard, opened Sharon's Hallmark Shop in Yukon on Garth Brooks Boulevard. They were open for nearly 25 years before retiring in 2015.  Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Anderson, in 2006, and her first grandchild, Janelle Sharon Beard, in 1993.  Darlene is survived by all three of her children and their spouses: Lewis and Sharon Beard of Yukon, Bruce and Lori Anderson of Bethany, and Kurt and Debi Anderson of Broken Arrow.  Darlene (known as Mema to her grandkids), is also survived by grandchildren Christopher-Jon Anderson, his wife Christina Anderson and their son, Hudson Roy Anderson of Yukon; Brock Anderson of Oklahoma City; Blake Anderson and Brooklynn Anderson of Broken Arrow. Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 12:45 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2023, with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m., at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
