Darlene Marie (White) Sokolosky

Darlene White Sokolosky, 88, of Pampa, and more recently, Oklahoma City, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022 in Oklahoma City.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 22 followed by a Vigil and Rosary service at 7:00 pm at Yanda and Son Funeral Home, 1500 Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK 73099.   Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 23 at 11:00 am at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 600 Garth Brooks Blvd, Yukon, OK 73009.

Darlene Marie White was born on June 6, 1934 in Picher, Oklahoma to Eldon Ray White and Geraldine Lightfoot White.   She graduated from Woodward High School in 1952.   Darlene attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and was a member of the Norse Stars cheer team.  Darlene graduated from Southwestern State College, now Southwestern Oklahoma State University, in 1956 with a degree in education and began teaching Oklahoma and later Colorado.  Darlene received a Master of Education degree from Colorado State College, now the University of Northern Colorado.   She married Frank Sokolosky on June 6, 1959 in Lamar, Colorado.  She and Frank spent most of their lives together and raised a family in Pampa, TX.  Darlene was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Pampa and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer.

Darlene taught elementary school in Holly, CO, Guymon, OK, and at Woodrow Wilson Elementary in Pampa, TX until retirement.  She loved to read and loved plants and gardening.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and by two sisters, Barbara and Betty.

Survivors include four sons, David and wife, Cami, of Corinth, TX, Steve of Borger, TX, Greg and wife, DeLette, of Austin, TX, and Brad and wife, Jennifer, of Edmond, OK; two sisters, Vickie of Fairview, OK, and Rita Jo of Woodward, OK, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
