David Earl Barnard

David was born on December 30, 1960 in Delhi, Louisiana to Shirley and Earl Barnard. The family moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 1974. David, Sheri, and Daryl had a wonderful childhood in Enid. David graduated from Enid High school in 1979. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma where he was a TKE. In October 1984, David and Tresa met and married on May 25, 1985. David and Tresa celebrated 38 anniversaries together. David and Tresa planted roots in Enid where they expanded their family. His seven kids were his pride and joy. He supported his children any way he could.

David worked at, and became part owner of, Enid Typewriter Company for the largest part of his career. He was an understanding and caring employee and manager. He was proud of his contribution to help the company grow to what it became. When Enid Typewriter was sold to Standley Systems, he became the field service manager and helped with the transition. He later took an opportunity to work for his son-in-law, Cory Lovelace, at Protech Mechanical. After a few years he felt God calling him back to Standley's where he worked until he was not physically able. David lived life to the fullest. He loved coaching his kids' teams, camping with family, and you could always find him by his pool or on the golf course. He loved being involved in a church home, serving in any way he could. David cherished being a mentor with Boy Scouts, and especially loved hiking through Philmont with them. He hiked it several times and was joined by his sons, Ethan and Matthew, for a few of the trips.

David's love for his grandchildren was unmatched. From basketball and volleyball games, to cheer competitions and school programs, he liked to attend them all. He loved when everyone came home and the house was filled with laughter and family. He always looked forward to burning breakfast for everyone. The memories will forever be treasured by David's family and loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Mt. Zion Global Methodist Church, 3201 150th St. NE, El Reno, OK.
