Debra Sue (Akin) Burgess

Debra Sue (Akin) Burgess was born on May 26, 1954 in Oklahoma City and left to be with Jesus on April 16, 2023 in Justin, Texas.

Debbie grew up in Yukon, Oklahoma and graduated from Yukon High School in 1972. She received Jesus as her personal Savior at age 16 and followed with believer's baptism. Her yearbook comments described her as "always smiling" and "always happy" which was true for Debbie until her death. She was known for her love of country music, singing, and dancing. Debbie lived and worked most of her life in the Oklahoma City area. Following the family tradition, she looked forward to cheering on the OU Sooners and Oklahoma City Thunder each season.

Debbie was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Arvile and Clarabelle Hickey; paternal grandparents, Everett and Allene Akin, and parents, Charley and Janelle Akin. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Mitchell of Booneville, AR; sister, Patty Scott and husband Larry of Denton, TX; brother, Jay Akin of Yukon, and niece, Amy Melhorn and husband Grant, as well as their three children, Christian, Claire, and Preston of Northlake, TX.

Debbie's life will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK. Her ashes will be buried next to her parents at the Yukon Cemetery
