Dennis Lee Harris

Dennis Lee Harris, 76, A loving husband, father, Papa and friend left his earthly home for heaven on August 7, 2023.

Dennis was born May 27, 1947 in Lawton, OK to Cleo and Faye Harris. Growing up he loved sports, especially baseball with his favorite team being the Boston Red Socks. Some of his favorite childhood memories include his brother, camping, and exploring different states. After graduating high school, Dennis was drafted into the United States Army at the young age of 21. He attended basic training at Fort Polk, LA. From there he was sent to Vietnam where he served from May 12, 1970 until March 19, 1971. During his military service Dennis earned many awards including the Bronze Star for his bravery during combat, along with the Army commendation medal, National defense service medal, Vietnam service medal and the Republic of Vietnam campaign service medal. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on August 27, 1971. Once returning home Dennis continued his education at Oklahoma State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in secondary education and teaching in 1969. He then went on to receive his Master of Science from 1971-1972. Throughout the years he continued teaching and developing his skill set and furthering his education. In 1999 he enrolled at Oklahoma City University receiving his second Master of Business administration (MBA) and was awarded an outstanding achievement by his peers with the designation of honors for a GPA of 3.75-3.99. He finished out his career at Redlands Community college as Director of Records, impacting thousands of students throughout his career. Upon retiring, Charlene and Dennis spent their time traveling and spending their summers in Pagosa Springs, Co at their beautiful vacation home.

Dennis had a servant's heart and would drop anything for those he loved. Although his time on earth has ended, his spiritual journey is just beginning. The legacy of his sincere and unconditional love and kindness will forever be remembered by those who were blessed to know him. His teaching never stopped, as he always provided us with many life lessons and was everyone's go to. His heart was big, his love was strong, and family was everything to him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Eula Faye Harris and father, William Cleo Harris.

He leaves behind to honor his memory, wife, Charlene Harris; brother, David and wife Deborah; sons, Jeff and wife Summer, Chris and wife Kasey, Brandon and wife Melissa, and Denver and wife Emily; niece, Katrina; great niece, Katelynn, and ten wonderful grandchildren, and two great grandchildren and one on the way, Beckett Williams due in November.

Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Church of the Servant - Chapel of the Cross, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK.
