Dennis Dwayne Smart

Dennis Dwayne Smart, age 74, was born July 5, 1949, in Duncan, OK, to L.C. Willard and Francis "Maudine" Smart. He entered Heaven on September 22, 2023, in Oklahoma City, OK.

A celebration of life for Dennis will be held Tuesday September 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Discovery Church in Yukon, Oklahoma with Ken Womack officiating.

Dennis grew up in Fox, OK and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1967. After high school he attended Southwestern College of Christian Ministries earning his Bachelor of Arts in Religion. While at SCCM he met and married Suzanne Newberry on September 1, 1970. Together they displayed a beautiful example of choosing each other through the peaks and valley of life. This month they celebrated 53 years of marriage. He spent most of his adult life in Christian ministry including serving as a principal of a Christian school, a music minister and a pastor. Dennis was very family oriented and always loved spending time with them. Dennis adored his 3 daughters and his 4 grandchildren. Dennis also enjoyed painting, playing the piano, and gardening.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Anne; brother, James; brother, Charlie and sister-in-law, Barbara; nieces, Terri Smart, Dana (Smart) Hoggard, and Tina Barnes, and granddaughter, Courtney Clausen.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Smart, of the home; daughter, Stephanie Verge of Oklahoma City; daughter, Melissa Ramsey of Oklahoma City; daughter, Renee Koehn and husband Brian Koehn of Oklahoma City; sister, Pam Evans and husband C.D. of Marietta; sister-in-law, Jimmie Faye Smart of Fox; brother-in-law, Jay Chambers of Enid; grandchildren, Kristen Miles and husband Jordan; Britton Ramsey, Keleigh Woods and husband Kade, and Aubrey Koehn; great grandchildren, Mila Miles, Alyvia Woods, and Madi Miles, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
