Donald Lloyd Templeman

Donald Lloyd Templeman, 89, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023, at his care facility. He was born on November 17, 1934 in Colo, Iowa.

Don enlisted in the Navy in April of 1955 and was assigned to the USS Chevalier, where he faithfully served for four years. Following his military service, he dedicated the majority of his career to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma. On June 6, 1956, Don married the love of his life, Gail Elizabeth Yordy Templeman. Their love story spanned 67 years, marked by devotion and companionship. Gail was truly the heart that beat in unison with Don's, and their bond was unbreakable. Don's life was a testament to his deep faith and commitment to his family, friends, and community. He exemplified his love for the Lord by selflessly helping others. As a Shriner, he drove children to Shreveport, Louisiana, so they could receive the burn treatments they needed. In times of crisis, Don delivered travel trailers to hurricane-ravaged Homestead, Florida, demonstrating his compassionate and caring nature. Tough yet tender, Don was a loyal soul who could always be counted on. He had a knack for fixing things, from tires to mowing lawns. A self-taught machinist and woodworker, he brought creativity and skill to his projects for a music classroom. Don cherished the simple pleasures of life, such as enjoying coffee and engaging in friendly conversations with his buddies at breakfast. Don's legacy of love, service, and kindness will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

Don is survived by his loving Wife Gail Elizabeth Yordy Templeman, Son Donald Lloyd Templeman, Jr. (Paulette Templeman), and Daughter Deborah Lynn Templeman Wheeler (Richard Wheeler). He is also remembered by his Grandchildren Donald Lloyd Templeman III, Kristen Wheeler Kirch (Karl Kirch), Kimberly Wheeler Courtney (Josh Courtney), Great-granddaughter Kathryn Hazel Kirch, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Father Harley Templeman, Mother Edith Belle Shaunce Templeman, Brother George William Templeman, and Sister Gertrude Jane Templeman Pierce.

Viewing will be held at Yanda and Son Funeral Home on Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Wheatland, Oklahoma on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
