Donita Ethel Andrews

Donita Ethel (Price) Andrews, 92, of Mustang, OK passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 16, 2025.

Donita was born on May 18, 1932, in Oklahoma City, OK to Don and Velma Price. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1950 and began her working life in downtown Oklahoma City, serving coffee and pie in a local shop. She later worked as a clerk at TG&Y, followed by a position in the Accounting Department at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. During that time, she even modeled in a fashion show, likely selected from among her coworkers.

After marrying Doyle Gene in 1952, Donita continued working until the birth of her daughter, Darise, when she embraced the role of stay-at-home mom. In the early 1960s, once her children were in school, she became the church secretary—balancing her duties with summers at home. Donita's children fondly remember those summers spent playing and exploring the halls of the church where she worked. She remained in that role until 1979.

Donita later worked at Custom Die Manufacturing and became the personal assistant to Gloria Easton. Her work included office management, home organization, cleaning, party planning, decorating, and cooking—roles she fulfilled with natural creativity and excellence.

In retirement, Donita fully embraced her role as "Dena" and poured her energy into her grandchildren—keeping them, chauffeuring them, attending every sporting event, concert, and school program. She was active in senior water aerobics, walked the halls of the hospital with fellow seniors, and never gave up her love of bargain shopping. (Her family still recalls the infamous Walls Bargain Center roof collapsing incident!)

She was endlessly creative and industrious. Donita hosted countless church showers, weddings, and banquets. She designed floral arrangements and bouquets, served as a wedding planner, and even gave free haircuts to boys who had been sent home from school for having long hair. She sewed curtains, bedspreads, and matching pillows—not clothes—and decorated every space she touched with budget-friendly flair. She could wallpaper, paint, and transform a room with imagination and joy.

Donita was also an avid reader, art lover, and curious traveler. She and her family spent many vacations serving at Falls Creek Youth Camp or visiting relatives throughout Oklahoma. She was a devoted cook and a natural hostess, always thinking of others before herself.

But more than any title or talent, Donita was known for her unconditional love and unwavering service to her family and community. She was always ready to help in any way. Her brother-in-law lovingly called her the "Den Mother of the World," a title that captured her generous spirit. She was a true servant—never happier than when she was doing something kind for someone else.

In her later years, Donita lived at Arbor House in Mustang, where she was deeply loved by her caregivers. They often described her as "always so sweet," and she was known for her signature thumbs up and cheerful winks. Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her until the very end.

Donita is survived by her siblings, Dean Price and Norita Shaw-Mayfield; daughter, Darise Taylor, and husband Todd Taylor; son, Dan Andrews, five grandchildren and their spouses, and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Doyle Gene, and brother Doyle Price.

A celebration of Donita's life will be held at Crossroads Mustang on Saturday, June 21 at 10 am with Lane Taylor officiating.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Arbor House Mustang and A Path of Care Hospice for the loving care they provided in Donita's final years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Epilepsy Foundation or Infant Crisis Center OKC

As Proverbs 31:28 says, "Her children arise and call her blessed." Donita's life of quiet strength, creativity, and boundless love will remain a guiding light for all who knew her
