Donna Kay Knight

Donna Knight was born on September 30, 1947, in Oklahoma City to Harold and Claudene Knight.  She left this earth on January 22, 2024. For the first 13 years of her life, Donna lived on a farm in northwest Oklahoma County where she spent many loving hours with her horse Nick. The family then moved to Warr Acres. She attended 12 years at Putnam City schools, graduating in 1965.  After graduating, Donna attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser before entering Central State University (UCO) majoring in elementary education. Rather than teaching, Donna enlisted in the U.S. Airforce serving until retirement. Donna retired with the rank of Lt Colonel.

Donna loved the Air Force and was stationed at several bases. One of her first assignments in the Air Force was playing volleyball. Her last assignment was the Pentagon which allowed her to live in the Washington DC area.  She loved flying and never gave up the wish to fly one more time. During her retirement, Donna lived in Las Vegas, Virginia, and Sunset Beach North Carolina. Her happy place was with her fur baby Kristi walking along the beach. In 2022, Donna came home to her Oklahoma family and lived at Jasmine Estates in Oklahoma City.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Claudene Knight, along with her well-loved fur babies Keonna, Kaysue, and Kristi.

She is survived by her brothers Jim and wife Ann, and Rick and wife Kathy; nieces and nephews Jamie Evans, Gary Knight, Cary Knight, and Ashley Issaac; and great nieces Olivia Knight, Aubree, Allie, and Aimee Isaac.

The family wants to thank the caregivers at Jasmine Estates OKC and Bristol Hospice for all of the awesome care they gave Donna.

Visitation with family will be held at the Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at a later date on Sunset Beach in North Carolina.
