Dorothy Brooks

Dorothy Brooks, 95, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dorothy was born in Lancaster, Ohio on March 4, 1927. In early retirement, Dorothy and her husband Donald liked playing golf and riding their motorcycle. They also loved going fishing in the ocean in their boat, appropriately named "Dorothy". They lived in Texas for many years and became big Texas Rangers baseball fans. Dorothy was lovingly referred to as "Texas Grandma" and that title, as well as her love of the Rangers, continued even after returning to Oklahoma to live. In later life, Dorothy enjoyed sitting on the back porch with daughter Shelly, watching the birds, listening for the owls and the occasional peacock. Dorothy loved playing games on her tablet and she could text with the best of them.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Freide Saum; husband, Donald Brooks; son, Cary Brooks, and grandson, Jeremy Bruning.

She is survived by daughters; Dee Burning of Guthrie, Glenda Dudley and husband Floyd of Blanchard, Shelly Kimball and husband Jeff of Yukon; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and Pearl, her beloved dog.

The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and their teams at OU Medical Center who took care of our loved one and who were so empathetic to us in our loss.
