Eldon Wayne Bond

Eldon Wayne Bond peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2024.

Eldon Wayne Bond was born in a small farmhouse in between Mountain View and Carnegie, Oklahoma. He was the son of Joseph Wayne and Dorothy Estelle (Neal) Bond. Eldon was the middle child, and only son of five siblings. This gave him a particularly close bond to both his mother and father. He spent his years at home working the wheat fields. Late in high school he began working at a local television repair shop. That is when his love for electronics started. An animal lover from a young age, Eldon prided himself on being a squirrel whisperer. He raised several squirrels in his home as pets. In his adult life his love for animals continued. He was never without a companion dog by his side.

Eldon's love for football started young playing for the Mountain View Tigers. He said hauling hay help make him strong. Upon graduation, Eldon and three of his best friends moved to Wichita, Kansas to pursue a degree in radio and electronics. While living in Witchita, he came home often to see his family, but most of all his sweetheart, Coleita Sampley.  In February 1962, after completing his electronics degree and securing a job at Will Roger's Airport, Eldon and Coleita were married. One month later, he was drafted into the US Army. Later that year, they welcomed their first daughter, Tammy. He served two years active duty in the US Army, two years Army reserves, and two years National Guard. Eldon had Top Secret Crypto Clearance and went on many missions. During his time in the military he earned a sharp shooter first class metal and was advanced level Morse Code.

Eldon worked for the Air Force as a civilian for 20 years. During that time he had the honor of being a Deputy Director of the AWAX project in Seattle.  He was in logistics for most of his career, and traveled often to the Pentagon and White House for meeting with generals. He enjoyed his job, but felt something was missing.

In 1978, Eldon felt a strong calling on his life to go into ministry. He sought a Doctorate in Theology and took the brave steps to quit his secure job and open The Church of Everlasting Faith, a nondenominational, full gospel church.  The following year Coleita gave birth to their second daughter, Mindi. Eldon and Coleita blessed so many people, and worked hard to spread the gospel. The Church witnessed many people saved and countless lives touched by the ministry that spanned over 35 years.

In Eldon's free time he loved to fish and hunt with his family. However, Eldon's greatest passion was OU football. He was a season ticket holder for over 40 years. He loved the Sooners. He would often brag about winter games, and one time he and Coleita both had their feet frozen to the ground, but it didn't stop them from cheering.

Eldon found great joy in his family. Sunday lunches were always a treasure to him. He attended many sporting events for his grandsons, and love to spend time with his two young granddaughters.

Although he battled with sickness and tragedies, Eldon never stopped proclaiming how faithful and good Jesus was to him. He was forever thankful for his loving Heavenly Father. His legacy of faith and love will live on through his family and friends, and his Sooner pride will never die.

Eldon is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Dorothy (Neal) Bond; sisters Joyce Dodd and Melba Unruh; loving wife Coleita Bond; and his precious grandson Joey Twyman.

His surviving family include daughters Tammy Twyman and husband Kent of Yukon and Mindi Jackson and husband Justin of Yukon; grandchildren Matthew Twyman, Annabella and Charlotte Jackson, Krista and Denny Geno of Elk City, and Stephanie and Charles Berryman of Elk City; sisters Darlene Law and husband Wesley of Mustang and Debbie Coulter and husband Mel of Mustang; sister-in- law Sondra Fields and husband Jimmy of Mustang; brother-in-law Chad Sampley and wife Andrea of Edmond; as well as many nephews, nieces, and other beautiful family members whom he loved dearly.

Viewing will be held at Yanda and Son Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Good News Church in Yukon on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:00 A.M.
