Eudia "Dee" Maebell Frey

Eudia "Dee" Maebell Frey, aged 90, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on December 12, 2024. She was born in Bigelow, Arkansas, on May 21, 1934.

After graduating high school in Bigelow Arkansas, she spent the next five years working for Southwestern Bell as a long distance telephone operator.  During that time, she married George, a hometown boy who worked for the Rock Island railroad. They would move briefly to Joliet, Illinois before settling in Union, Missouri where she stayed at home to raise their three children. The family moved to Yukon Oklahoma in 1966. She was baptized and joined St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in the late 1960's.   While her children were young, she volunteered extensively at St. John's school, working as a teacher's aide, serving on the school board, and holding the offices of Secretary and Treasurer in the church Altar Society.

After her children were grown and as a result of George's work with the railroad, they moved to Pratt Kansas where she took up quilting.  Always an excellent seamstress, she handmade quilts for family, friends, and for parish fundraisers.  Many were auctioned and raffled to raise thousands of dollars for the parish community funds.

Moving back to Yukon in 1994 after the death of her husband, she helped with grandchildren and continued to serve the parish community.  She helped with funeral dinners at the church and was a member of Paula's Daughters and the Ladies Rosary group.

Dee loved traveling and has been to many countries around the world from Europe to Asia. Her favorite countries included Scotland, Greece, and Italy.

She moved to Spanish Cove Retirement Village in June of 2013, remaining in an independent living apartment until her recent health decline.

Her family would like to thank her many Spanish Cove friends and caregivers for making her time there special and peaceful.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant daughter and seven siblings.

She is survived by her three children, Kevin Frey, Robin Frey and wife Cheryl, Karen Ritz and husband Jim; grandchildren, Justin Frey and wife Tiffany, Allison Frey, Matt Ritz, and Kelsey Ritz, and great-grandchildren, Brentlee, Elizabeth, and Will Frey. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Cox of Perryville, AR, along with nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St John Nepomuk Altar Society can be made in her memory.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, Oklahoma. A rosary will be recited on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with interment in the Yukon Cemetery.
