Eula Mae Stewart-Mills

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Eula Mae (Eaves) Stewart-Mills left this life September 7, 2024. Eula Mae was born December 15, 1923, to Clyde Patrick and Bertie Lou (Hunt) Eaves.  She and her four siblings grew up on a farm near Red Oak, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1941, earned a degree from Draughons Business College, and later attended Eastern Oklahoma College and Central State University. She met Lieutenant James Benton Stewart while visiting her brother, Ray, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and they were married six months later.  They began their family while "Jim" was in the USAF and moved to Oklahoma City in 1960.  James passed away in 1982.

Eula Mae enjoyed a 30-year career in administration for the Woman's Missionary Union Department of the Oklahoma Baptist General Convention and served as interim director for a period of time.  Eula Mae developed friendships and enjoyed close contact with missionaries serving at home and abroad.  She served as a volunteer for the First Baptist Church, OKC, Presbyterian Hospital, and as a Docent for the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.   Her first love was her faith, then her husband and their two children and her extended family which included thirty-five first cousins.  She served as President of the Eaves Family Nation Organization.  Her passions included writing, cooking, sewing, and reading.

In 1996 she married Willard Brooks Mills, a retired Civil Engineer who passed away in 2003.  She moved to Spanish Cove Retirement Center in 2008 where she was very active.   She often said "The Cove" extended her life and made it more rewarding.  "I met so many wonderful people who became my dearest friends."

She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Berdie Eaves, her husband James Benton Stewart, her husband Willard Brooks Mills, her four siblings, Orpha Garner, Delana Williams, Ray Eaves and Derral Eaves, and great-grandson James Thomas Naifeh.   She is survived by her daughter Flora Jean Bosman, husband Larry of Oklahoma City ; son Dr. James Benton Stewart, Jr., wife Linda of Oklahoma City; Stepchildren Tam Campbell of Corpus Christi, Texas; Blain Mills, wife Linda of Rowlett, Texas; and David Mills, wife Melody of Rogers, Arkansas;  grandchildren Stephanie Naifeh, husband Blair: Dr. Greg Stewart, wife Vanessa; great grandchildren Gabriel Naifeh, Leilah Naifeh, Rose Naifeh, William Stewart, and Julia Stewart all of Oklahoma City.  "The Grands" called her "Grammie" and she was proud of that.

The Family would like to give special thanks to the Spanish Cove team of caregivers, all the Spanish Cove staff, Legacy Family Hospice and the nursing staff at Integris Hospital for their kindness, love and support.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, with viewing and visitation held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK.
