Frances Charlene Capps

Frances "Charlene" Downing-Capps, 80, of Yukon, Oklahoma went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 16,2025. She passed away peacefully in her bed surrounded by family that loved her dearly. She was born June 20,1944 to John and Martha Downing in Oklahoma City, OK.

Charlene graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1962. She married Edward Capps, they were together for 19 years and had 4 beautiful children, She retired from AMCO after many years of working with several beloved co-workers.  Charlene was a devoted mother and grandma to all. She was known for her compassionate nature, giving spirit, witty sense of humor and always putting others' needs before her own. She lived a vibrant life filled with love, kindness and joy. She was a devout Christian and lifelong member of First Indian Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending the many activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent her last years with Wes and Donna at their home in Yukon where they created many fond and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed and leave a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

Charlene is survived by her children: Martha Capps-Ballard, Deborah Capps, Donna and Wesley Hunter, and John and Andrea Capps; grandchildren: Nicole Martin, Tommy Stevens, Craig Stevens, Carrie Capps, Elizabeth Hunter, Wesley Hunter Jr., Ryan Capps, Drew Capps and Kiya Hunter, and great-grandchildren: Grace, Brook-Lin, Mark, Kloey, Conner, Mila, Baya, Caitlin, Elly, Camden, Caydence, Courtney, Wesley III, Boston, Wrenleigh, Ian and Canon. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Martha, siblings, J.D. Downing, Mary Lou Davis, Jimmy Downing, Lahoma Proctor and her great-grandson Eli Stevens.  She had an abundance of love for her many nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved her dearly.

A funeral service is scheduled for February 22, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at First Indian Baptist Church in Moore, OK followed by a burial service at Friendship Cemetery in Pocasset, OK.

Memorial donations made in honor of Charlene should be directed to the Building Fund at First Indian Baptist Church, 2610 S. Broadway Ave, Moore, OK
