Francis Lee Weedon

Francis Lee Weedon, 97, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2026, and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born November 13, 1928, in Englewood, Kansas, Francis was the son of Jesse Lee Weedon and Hazel Augustus Ford Weedon. He grew up alongside his brother, Billy Dean Weedon, and sister, Betty Sue Weedon, and later made Oklahoma his home.

In 1947, Francis married the love of his life, Sybil Joan Moore. Together, they shared nearly 61 years of marriage and raised three children: Diana Lynn, Larry Lee, and Jacqueline Sue. Sybil preceded Francis in death on May 7, 2008. Their marriage was built upon faith, family, hard work, service, and a lifelong commitment to one another.

Francis was a lifelong entrepreneur, farmer, oil-field worker, businessman, and skilled problem-solver. His career included work in oil exploration and geophysical and water-well services before he helped establish Frontier Logging Corporation, LLC, a business he built and operated for more than 30 years. Francis was also highly respected within the water-well and groundwater industry. He served as president of the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) for many years and, in 2020, received the prestigious Ross L. Oliver Award, one of the highest honors presented by the National Ground Water Association. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Francis accepted the award remotely, with the presentation appearing on a large screen in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was extremely humbled and proud to receive this distinguished recognition for his many years of service and contributions to the industry. He remained active in his work until selling Frontier Logging Corporation at the age of 94.

Faith was at the center of Francis's life. He and Sybil faithfully served the churches they attended, helped establish four missions—three in Montana and one in Oklahoma—and were among those who helped establish Canadian Valley Church in Yukon. They believed in serving wherever they were needed and investing in the lives of others, especially young people.

Francis will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quick wit, generosity, mechanical ability, entrepreneurial spirit, and determination to always keep moving forward. He loved his family dearly, enjoyed photography, treasured his church and community, and was known for his humor, storytelling, and practical wisdom. His favorite philosophy was simple: “If you stop moving, you cease to live.” He lived those words throughout his 97 years.

Francis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sybil Joan Weedon; his son, Larry Lee Weedon; his son-in-law, Robert “Bo” Allen Cason III; and his parents and siblings.

He is survived by his daughters, Diana Lynn Weedon Abbott and Jacqueline Sue Weedon Stephens and their families; his grandchildren, Julie Ann Cason-Pina, William Dale Burns, Christy Ann Weedon, Amy Lee Weedon, Jesse Lee Weedon, and Daniel Lee Stephens; numerous great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Francis leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, service, laughter, and love that will continue through every generation that follows him.

He lived a long and meaningful life, loved his family well, served his Lord faithfully, and never stopped moving forward.

Francis has finally finished his work. Jesus has called him home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, Mustang, Oklahoma, with interment following at 2:00 p.m., at Sunnyside Cemetery, Vici, Oklahoma.
