Gary Edgar Miller

Retired Judge Gary E. Miller, 80, passed away on April 10, 2026.

Gary was born on March 8, 1946, in Seminole, Texas, to T.E. “Doad” Miller and Evelyn M. Tripplett Miller. He graduated from Seminole High School and later married Joyce Ann Cypert, with whom he had three children.

He proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. During his service, he also worked as a field reporter, interviewing soldiers and sending messages home to their families.

Gary lived a full and dynamic life. Over the years, he worked as a DJ, scuba diver, beekeeper, Golden Gloves boxer, and construction company owner. He was an avid fisherman and snow skier who loved to travel. A licensed pilot, he had the opportunity to fly at least two Oklahoma governors.

He practiced law for more than 20 years before being appointed to the bench by Governor Frank Keating. Throughout his judicial career, he served as Special Judge, Associate Judge, and District Judge. He was instrumental in the creation of the Gary E. Miller Juvenile Justice Center, reflecting his deep commitment to the children of Canadian County. He also served on numerous boards and committees.

In the 1980s, Gary married Judy Wheeler (Will), and together they shared many years of travel, laughter, and devotion to family. She preceded him in death by two days.

Gary was known for his kindness, generosity, and ability to connect with everyone he met. He never went anywhere without seeing a familiar face and always made time for others.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Miller; his parents, Doad and Evelyn Miller; his brother, Jimle Miller; his sister, Gay McKee; and his son, Brian Miller.

He is survived by his daughters, Ulisa Marek and Shanna DeLong; his sons-in-law, Anthony Griffin and Darren DeLong; his grandchildren, Zoe Eldred, Zane Marek, Zalen Marek, Zenna Marek, Brandon Miller, Koby DeLong, and Kole DeLong; and his great-grandchildren, Aurora Eldred, Kyra DeLong, Obbry DeLong, Nova DeLong, Juvia DeLong, and Bryan DeLong.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 17th at 6:00 PM at Christ’s Church in Yukon, OK, with Rev. John Miller officiating.
