George Elloid Stringer

George Elloid Stringer, age 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

George was born on December 17, 1945, in Ada, OK, to Delbert and Pearl Stringer. At age three, George and his family moved to Eunice, NM, where he lived until he graduated high school in 1963. After high school, George moved to Oklahoma City to go to business school. While he was there, he met Ruby Plunkett. They married in 1965 and had three children together. Ruby went home to heaven in 1988. In December 1992, George married Retha Bartlett, and he gained three more children. He and Retha celebrated 31 anniversaries together and have welcomed many grandchildren and great-grandchildren into their family. He loved his family more than anything. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all his extended family was his favorite thing to do.

George retired from the workforce in 2007. He had various jobs throughout his life. Most notably, he loved being a Deputy Sheriff for Canadian County Sheriff's Department. In his spare time, he really loved doing various woodworking projects. He mainly made pens, then sold them at various craft shows. If you came by and asked him how it was going, he would quickly get lost in showing all the various pens and toothpick holders he made. More than likely, you would end up going home with one if you asked. He did various other projects like laser engraving and 3D printing. He loved horses, sports, politics, and painting.

George loved going to Ambassadors at their church and the various other events that the church had. He loved his church family and made many lasting friendships there.

George is survived by his wife Retha; sister Mary Pruitt; children Tim (Andrea) Stringer of Salina, KS, Stephanie (Chris) Davis of Yukon, Brian (Tana) Stringer of Yukon, Jerry (Laura) Bartlett of Oklahoma City, Todd (Rachel) Bartlett of Moore, and Amanda (Ryan) Sullivan of Yukon; 31 grandchildren including spouses; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Pearl Stringer; first wife Ruby Stringer; and siblings Joe (Jay) Stringer, Helen (Dutch) Mason, and Jesse (Tootsie) Bayes.

Viewing will be at Yanda and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., with the family receiving friends from 4:00 and 6:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Discovery Church on May 23, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. If anyone would like an organization to donate to, you are welcome to donate to the Ambassadors at Discovery Church.
