George Allen White

Lt Col (Ret.) George Allen White, beloved father, grandfather, and husband, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by family in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 83.

Born on October 22, 1941, in Stroud, OK, to Leo and Blye White, George grew up with a deep love for the outdoors, often bird hunting and playing golf with his father. It was during these times that he famously scored his first hole-in-one. He became big brother to Doug White in 1952. After graduating from Stroud High School, he attended the University of Oklahoma, where he was a proud member of the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band, playing the French Horn. George was also an active member of the ROTC and the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.

In 1964, George married his childhood sweetheart, Carole "Kay" Duncan White, beginning a lifelong partnership. Inspired by two of his uncles, who served as pilots during World War II, George joined the Oklahoma Air National Guard, earning a flying position that took him to Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama for pilot training in 1969. Upon completing his training, he and Kay lived in Stillwater and Oklahoma City, where they fostered several children and later adopted their son, Terry, shortly followed by the birth of their 2 sons, Brad and Brian.

The White family moved to Chickasha, OK in 1978, where they became active members of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In 2005 George moved to Yukon. George's military career continued to flourish as he piloted the classic C-124 (affectionately known as "Old Shaky") and later flew the C-130 A and then brand-new C-130 H models, which he flew new from the Lockheed factory to Will Rogers Air National Guard Base in 1978. Throughout the 1980's, George also flew for various corporate companies. George retired from the Air National Guard following 26 years of service. Following his military retirement, George continued to contribute to the aviation world by accepting a position with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he became an expert in writing instrument approaches as well as flying for flight check. Fostering his love to travel and exploring, in 1996, he accepted a 3-yr position at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, where he played a key role in writing instrument flight approaches for the military. After decades of dedicated civil service, George retired in 1999.

Following the passing of his first wife, Kay, in 2004, George fell in love and married Bernice Beall in 2005 and joined the Catholic Church. Together they enjoyed nearly 20 years of happiness and companionship. They frequently hosted gatherings filled with laughter, conversations, and friendly competitions particularly their beloved card games of bridge and pitch. They also worked together as primary developers of the Bentwood Estates in Mustang. George was also an active member of the Grey Eagles at Will Rogers and the American Legion.

George's legacy lives on in his wife, Bernice White of Mustang, OK; his sons, Brad White and wife Anne of Coppell, TX; Brian White and wife Kelly of Yukon, OK; grandchildren, Zachary Johns, Griffin White, and Amelia White; son Terry White and wife Shelia of Omaha, NE, and their children Thomas, Justine, Michael and their four great grandchildren; and brother Doug White and wife Barbara of Sugar Land, TX.

A celebration of George's life and Rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 9 am at Yanda and Son Funeral Home, 1500 W. Vandament, Yukon, OK, with a reception following at Town and Country Christian Church, 2200 Cornwell Dr, Yukon. All are welcome to attend and honor the life of George White.

Family and friends are also invited to a visitation at Yanda and Son Funeral Home on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

A graveside service will take place at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association in George's memory.
