Gera Joyce Mcclanahan

Gera Joyce McClanahan was born on July 31st, 1984 in Ardmore, OK.  She passed away on November 20, 2023 at her home in Yukon, OK at the age of 39.

She was raised in Ratliff City, attending school in Fox where she enjoyed cheerleading, playing in the band, and playing softball.  She graduated with honors in 2002, and afterwards attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University before finishing her Bachelor's degree at Southern Nazarene University.

Gera married Ryan McClanahan on September 5, 2009 in Ardmore.  They made their home in Yukon where Gera worked as a medical biller.  She loved to be an advocate for patients and worked very hard to ensure that they received the best care.  Ryan and Gera began their family on May 8, 2011, with the birth of their first child, Emily.  Allison followed on January 14, 2015.  Gera loved being a mom, and shortly after Allison was born, Gera decided to stay home and raise the girls full time.

She loved to joke, laugh, sing, dance, and listen to all types of music.  She loved attending concerts and loud music.  Gera was kind and generous, she was always wanting to help others.  She was always there for her friends, giving advice, and making them laugh.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Kenneth and Geraldine Smith, James and Shirley Claxton; Uncles, Jerry Benson Smith and JR Smith, and Cousin, Billy Charles Smith.

Survivors include her loving husband Ryan McClanahan and their daughters Emily and Allison of the home; Parents, Brenda Claxton of Ratliff City and Gary Claxton of Healdton; Brothers, Kenny "Bubba" Claxton of Ratliff City and John "JJ" Claxton of Pocasset; Niece, Kourtney Lytle of Healdton, and countless others whose lives she touched.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK.
