Glenda Faye Roddy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Earl Roddy and Glenda Faye Roddy, who both left this world on December 30, 2024, at their residence in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma. They passed just five hours apart, a testament to the deep bond they shared throughout their lives.

Ken was born on October 19, 1943, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Rubye Mae (Stuart) Roddy and Thorton Murphy (Jack) Roddy. He was raised in the Oney/Ft. Cobb area and graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore. Ken went on to earn his bachelor's degree in accounting from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1965.

Glenda was born as Glenda Jones on February 25, 1946, in Coalgate, Oklahoma, to Beatrice (Jackson-Jones) Glover and A.D. Jones. After graduating from Anadarko High School, she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University for one year before beginning her family.

Ken and Glenda met while in high school and were married shortly after Glenda graduated, on May 23, 1964, in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma. Their son, Monte, was born on August 2, 1965. Ken then joined the United States Army, and he and Glenda moved to Berlin, Germany, where he was stationed for two years. While there, twin daughters Kimberly and Deborah were born on August 14, 1967. Following this, Ken served a tour in Vietnam as part of the Special Forces Division from September 1967 to September 1968, being honorably discharged in August 1969. During this time, his wife, Glenda, held down the home front while raising their young children in Anadarko with the support of her family. Upon his return, Ken joined the Oklahoma City Police Department, where he served with distinction from 1969 until his retirement in 1996. He began as a patrolman, moved to the narcotics division as an undercover agent for two years, and eventually became a detective in the burglary division, where he dedicated the remainder of his career.

Once their children became teenagers, Glenda began working at Integris Baptist Medical Center in accounts payable, where she worked for many years before retiring after a fulfilling career.

After retirement, Ken and Glenda spent 10 years touring the beautiful landscapes of America in their RV, before settling back closer to home in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, where they remained until their deaths.

Ken will be remembered for his military service, his service to the OKCPD, and as an avid fisherman, a die-hard OU football fan, a role model for his commitment to his wife, an outstanding father, and a beloved Papa. Glenda will be remembered for her impeccable sense of fashion, her devotion to and support of her husband, her unwavering love for her children and grandchildren, and her unmatched humor and passion for storytelling.

They are survived by their son, Monte Roddy of Mustang, his spouse Sonya, and grandson Austin Roddy. They are also survived by their daughter, Kim Hanigar of Shawnee, her spouse David, and granddaughters Kyla Stafford, Chasity Larrauri, and Darian Riley. While their daughter, Deb Hodge, preceded them to heaven on August 4, 2023, they are survived by granddaughters Callie Tomlinson, Caitlin Brown, and grandson Lane Hodge. They are also survived by great-grandchildren Diesel, Kyndalyn, Sophie, Declan, Malakai, and Evelynn.

A dual celebration of life to honor Kenneth and his wife, Glenda, will be held on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, Oklahoma.
