Harold Dean Whitfield, Jr.

Harold Dean Whitfield Jr, 79, of Shawnee Oklahoma, passed away on September 23, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Dean was born on February 13,1945 to Elizabeth Ruth Moore and Harold Dean Whitfield in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

After graduating from Cement High School in Oklahoma in 1963, Dean enlisted in the United States Navy in San Diego, California. He served for 4 years, 4 months, and 22 days, achieving the rank of E-5 radio operator before being honorably discharged. Inspired by a co-worker, he decided to build his own home. Following his discharge, he learned carpentry and worked for free to acquire skills in electronics, plumbing, roofing, and metal buildings. This experience kickstarted his career as a maintenance man and contractor for multinational companies in Dallas, Texas, and North Carolina. In the 1980s, he owned a metal building company in Oklahoma City. A constant learner, he eventually owned and managed multiple commercial and multi-family real estate properties in Oklahoma City.

After being married for 35 years to his late wife, Dean met Gracia Mae Sunogan in 2007 during his missionary work in the Philippines. Dean and Gracia welcomed a son, Elijah Dean Whitfield, who became Dean's pride and joy. In 2018, Dean retired from investing in real estate but continued to pursue other opportunities while dedicating his time to missionary work. He has helped plant churches in various regions of the Philippines, supports an orphanage with 75 children, and contributes to building and teaching Bible schools in both the Philippines and Kenya. Dean spent several years in the Philippines fulfilling God's calling to serve.

Dean is preceded in death by his father, Harold Dean Whitfield, Sr.; mother, Elizabeth Ruth (Moore) Belyeu; brothers, Gary Wayne Whitfield and Bruce Thurman Whitfield and Sister, Carolyn Jean Greene. He is survived by Audie William Whitfield, Danny Earl Whitfield, Ida Beth Blim and Tina Darlene Taylor.

Celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Christ's Church of Yukon, 620 W. Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK 73099. The family will have a private interment prior to the service.
