Helen Catherine Mckinney

Helen Sokoloski McKinney, 101 years old and a lifelong resident of Yukon, passed away on December 15, 2023. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 13, 1922, in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was a source of tireless energy dedicated to raising her family and helping others. Helen played women's baseball during WW2, enjoyed sewing, cooking, and helping at her local church and parochial school in all aspects. She made 10,747 dozen kolaches for St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church Czech festival booth over a span of 40 years.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Tom McKinney, daughter Dianna Peters, granddaughter Jamie Bowie, son-in-law Joe Phipps, daughter-in-law Velma McKinney, both her parents, and 11 elder siblings. She is survived by her sister Catherine Walczykowski of Folsom, California; sons, Paul, Ronald, Mike (Gaye) McKinney; daughter Cindy Phipps; grandsons, Ryan (Holly), Chris (Jennifer), Jason, Steven (Keri), Noel (Bobbie), Nathan (Cody) McKinney, Bryan (Nadjla) Bowie, and John Phipps; granddaughters, Melissa Utley, Tracey (Rick) Nguyen, Tami (Anthony) Phillips, and Tara (Gray) Diffee; 26 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Yanda and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wake services will be held at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Yukon Cemetery.
