Helen Faye Stewart

Helen Faye Stewart, age 75, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, in Tuttle. She was born on April 7, 1950, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to parents Vesta Rachael Morris and James Thomas Stewart.

Helen attended Burns Flat High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. She then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University for two semesters.

During the mid-to-late 1970s, Helen worked as a dispatcher for the El Reno Police Department under Chief T.D. Hale. In 1977, she joined the Yukon Police Department, where she served faithfully until her retirement on February 15, 1996. Following her law enforcement career, Helen worked for Hertz until her second retirement in 2016.

Helen was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and caring for her animals. She especially enjoyed tending to her three ponies—Harley, Gizmo, and Lucky; her two goats—Bonnie and Clyde; her dog, Pepper; and her cat, Abbey.

Left to cherish Helen's memory are her sister, Emma Jean Newman; her sons, Jeffrey Grulkey and wife Shaila of Yukon, Jason Akers and wife Wendi of Oklahoma City, and Joseph Akers and wife Christina of Sand Springs; her grandchildren, Tana Rooker, Maegan Thibodeau, Zoey Ake and husband Dillon, Ashtyn Fowler and husband Braden, Collin Grulkey, Jordan Akers, Logan Grulkey and wife Asley, James Akers, Allyson Ritchie, and Ayden Ritchie; and her great-grandchildren, Sutton Bones, Hudson Rooker, Laney Bones, Kaezly Thaxton, Slate Ake, Lincoln Fowler, Whitley Ake, Watson Ake, and Khloe Fowler. She will also be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

Preceding Helen in death were her parents, Vesta Rachael Morris and James Thomas Stewart; sister, Flora Louise Stewart; brother, Ernest Wayne; granddaughter, Baylie Kylynn Bones; and brother-in-law, Henry Guy Newman.

Flowers may be sent to Yanda & Son Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 1500 W. Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK. Guests are encouraged to dress in church attire. A family lunch will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Tuttle Primitive Baptist Church, 605 SW First St., Tuttle, OK.
