James Allen Grissom

James Allen Grissom, a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather passed away Tuesday, September 19th, 2023, at the age of 62. James was born on June 2, 1961, in Bridgeport, Alabama to Lula Mae Grissom and Allen Ray Grissom.

James was a commercial tire salesman for over 30 years and loved working with his many customers, who quickly became his friends.  He was always the one to call if you ever needed anything, and he would quickly be there to help. James made his life in Yukon, Oklahoma and spent his childhood growing up in Midwest City and Harrah.

James was an avid fisherman and boater. He and his wife of 37 years, Wendy, would go on many trips. They loved spending time in Las Vegas, visiting family and friends, boating, fishing, and camping. He never said "no" to a fun time! James always had a great sense of humor; and would bring laughter and stories everywhere he went. Along with his love of fishing, James also loved to cook for anyone who was hungry. As his mother-in-law quickly learned, the kitchen was his territory. He cooked many holiday meals, and a fish fry was a must-have annual event. James was also known as a handyman. There was nothing he couldn't fix!

James was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Grissom. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Grissom; his daughter, Kristy Grissom and son-in-law, Joseph Duncan; son, Wesley Grissom and son-in-law, Andy Barlow; grandchildren, Brayden Duncan and Mason Duncan; father, Allen Grissom; and sister, Juanita Legget. As well as his nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. James will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.

The viewing will be held Monday, September 25th, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, September 26th, 9:00 am – 8:00 pm, at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, September 27th at the funeral home, with interment following at Frisco Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
