James "Jim" Lawrence Morton

James L. Morton (Jim) passed away March 12, 2024, at the age of 94. Jim was one of twelve children born to Frank and Minnie Morton on a farm near Gore, Oklahoma. Jim is survived by Marge, his wife of nearly 73 years; his brother Don Morton; son Jim H. Morton; daughter Becky Little, and daughter Patti Gutierrez and her husband Reuben.

He is also survived by grandson Jim Gutierrez, wife Jenn and their daughter Laney; grandson Jake Morton, wife Katie, and their children Max, Connor, Lucy and Henry; grandson David Little, wife Amy, and their children Ava and Jackson; granddaughter Alicia Little Emsley and spouse Clint; granddaughter LoriAnn Gutierrez Klein, husband Michael, and their son Colton, and brother-in-law Ron Willingham, wife Sherry, and a host of nephews and nieces.

Jim graduated from Oklahoma State University in June 1951 and married Marge, the love of his life. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with an MBA in 1955 and achieved his CPA certification. He entered the Air Force in 1951 and began a 26-year career with the Office of Special Investigations. His assigned bases included Tokyo; Tinker AFB, Oklahoma; Vance AFB, Oklahoma; Wiesbaden, Germany; Washington, DC; Norfolk, Virginia; Tokyo (2nd tour); Malmstrom AFB, Montana; Ankara, Turkey and Offutt AFB, Nebraska where he retired June 1977 as a Colonel.

He then worked for the National Bank for Farm Cooperatives in Sacramento, California for 4 years then transferring to the Denver office for 14 years as Sr. Vice President.

After his second retirement, he and Marge worked as volunteers in the Food Bank for Littleton Church of Christ.

Jim was aways active in the Lord's work wherever he went. He served as an elder in Washinton, DC (4 years), Tokyo (2 years) and Littleton (30 years). Jim and Marge moved back to Oklahoma 12 years ago and made their home at Spanish Cove in Yukon.

Jim was greatly admired by all who knew him and was the finest example of a Christian husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Jim's burial will be at Ft Sill National Cemetery at 10 am, Friday March 22, 2024, with full military honors.

The memorial service will be at 10 am Saturday, March 23 at the South Yukon Church of Christ, 11700 NW 10th, Yukon, OK 73099.
