Janet Juanita Wright

Janet Juanita Wright, 89, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

She was born on November 28, 1935, in Springfield, Missouri, to Lannie Devon Ward and Averil Juanita Ward. She graduated from Missouri State University with a teaching degree. She taught Spanish, then raised a family, and subsequently worked in travel, finance, architecture, and insurance as an administrative assistant before her retirement.

She was a member of Life Church and a vegetarian.

Her passions included spending time with family and caring for her many pets, most of whom were rescues. She will be remembered for her compassion, her intellect, her caring nature, and her wry sense of humor. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and Gunsmoke.

She is survived by her children, Laurie DeLane Hammons (and her husband, Mark Hammons Sr.) and Gregory Wright (and his wife, Patricia Wright); her grandchildren, Mark Edgar Hammons II (and his wife, Winnie Hammons), Kenneth Dale Hammons, Markus Cole Hammons (and his wife, Lila Lizama), Gregory Collier Hammons (and his wife, Chandler Hammons), Gage Wright (and his wife, Paige Wright), and Grant Wildwright (and his wife, Jocelyn Wildwright); her great-grandchildren, Elaine Hammons, Emilia Hammons, Graham Wright, and Gavin Wright; and her dogs, Dexter, Annie, Archer, and Aspen. She was predeceased by her dogs, Ruffy, Blossom, Sophie, Whiskers, and Teddy, and her cat, Rosie.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest in Yukon Cemetery.
