Janice Lou Gurney

Janice Lou Pfister Gurney passed away after a long battle with lung disease on April 1, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 20, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana Janice leaves behind a legacy of love for family and friends, love for her cherished rescue dogs and love for the beauty of the outdoors.

Janice was known for many things. As one of six siblings, she could bring laughter to any gathering with the many stories from her childhood. Janice loved gardening and making her world more beautiful with her flowerbeds and plantings around her home. She was also famous for her coconut pies at Easter, apple pies on July 4 and pecan pies at Thanksgiving. Throughout her life Janice gave a loving home to many rescue dogs, and was a proud supporter of local animal shelters and animal rescue organizations.

Janice is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Vernon, her daughter, Stephanie, grandchildren Ethan and Amy, sisters Barbara and Harriett, brother Rusty and a host of friends. A celebration of her life will be held at her home, 15025 NW 23rd St. in Yukon on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pets and People Humane Society at PO Box 850587 Yukon, OK 73085.
