Jean Aday

Juanna Jean Aday was born in Woodhull, New York State to Stanley and Loretta Shaffer, April 22, 1939. She passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at her home in Yukon, OK at the age of 86.

The family moved to Oklahoma where she attended school in Ada and after Graduation, later moved to Shawnee where she met and married Carl J. Aday. She was employed by Sylvania Electronics until moving with family to Yukon and was employed by Western Electric in Oklahoma City for several years. Later she worked at Curtline Draperies and after learning new skills she was self-employed for 15 years at home, specializing in window treatments.

After their three daughters were grown, she continued her education, attending El Reno Junior College, Central State University, and Bethany Nazarene College, graduating with a B.A. degree in Art & Design. At that time, she pursued her career in Interior Design by opening her business, Jean's Drapery & Design in Yukon. Then after 27 years, she retired, to focus on more of the things she always enjoyed, travel, camping, sewing, reading, crafts, knitting, crocheting and gardening with her husband Carl of 66 years. She belonged to the Canadian Valley Art Guild, sharing her God given talent of painting by entering her paintings in various showings for others to enjoy.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl and one step granddaughter. She is survived by her daughter Sherry Power and Mike Turley of Buckeye Arizona; stepdaughters, Twila Tirich of Moore Oklahoma and Judy Richardson of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; 4 step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren and one more on the way. Additional survivors include one sister Norma Parker; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members, her church family and friends.

Her place of praise and worship was Discovery Church Assembly of God in Yukon. In lieu of flowers, it is our request for you to make a donation to The American Cancer Society in Jean's name.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK, with interment following at 2:00 p.m., at the Tecumseh Cemetery, Shawnee, OK.
