Jean Haxton

Garlan Jean (Walker) Haxton, 89, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on February 11, 2026. Born October 29, 1936, in Mountain View, Oklahoma, to J.C. and Johnnie Walker, Jean lived a life centered on faith, family, and service. She married Dennis Haxton on January 2, 1955, and together they shared many devoted years and raised three children: Gary, Camy, and Cindy.

After attending Draughon's Business School, Jean devoted her early years to raising her family before working as a hairdresser, school bus driver, and substitute teacher. She later served more than 30 years as an administrative executive with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. She was active in Business Professional Women of Oklahoma and served as president. In retirement, she enjoyed farming and ranching with her husband, proudly serving as the family's "main gate opener."

Jean was kindhearted, quick-witted, and never met a stranger. She loved dancing, reading, cards, and games, and was an enthusiastic fan of KU basketball and OU softball. Her crocheted Christmas potholders, knitted baby blankets, and beloved holiday noodles will be fondly remembered by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents; her son, Gary; grandson, Todd Haxton; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Marie Parks.

She is survived by her daughters, Camy Hybsha and husband Allen, and Cindy Ann Haxton; daughter-in-law, Joyce Haxton; grandchildren: Courtney Parks (Sam), Mindy Bowling (Blake), and Ross Haxton (Emily); six great-grandchildren: Bryar, Joseph, Sarah, Asher, Hudson, and Dawson; and sister, Joyce Kennedy.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Yukon, Oklahoma, with interment following at 2:30 p.m., at Gotebo Cemetery, Gotebo, Oklahoma.
