Jeanette Marie Cook

Jeanette Marie Cook was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on March 8th, 1944, to Atha and Wade Dean. She passed peacefully at home on July 30th, 2023, at the age of 79. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held for Jeanette on November 5th, 2023, at the Wintersmith Park Lodge, 1621 Wintersmith Drive in Ada Oklahoma from 10:00a.m. to 2:30p.m. For more information contact Jessica Wells at 405-476-5549.

Jeanette lived most of her young life in Ada, Oklahoma. She graduated from East Central University where she double majored in Art and English. She met J. Don Cook at ECU, they married and started a family. Jeanette began her varied career life as a teacher in Davis, OK and then taught art at Byng High School. After a 2-year stint as the Women's Editor the Ada Evening News, she worked at the Oklahoma Environmental Information Media Center located at ECU as Director and Editor of their Eco Systems publication. After moving to Bethany, OK in 1977 Jeanette became a textbook writer and editor for The Economy Company and later McGraw-Hill Publishing.

During her free hours Jeanette wrote and sold a book to Harlequin Romance. After a divorce and retirement, she wrote freelance magazine articles and a screenplay. She worked on several projects as a freelance editor and loved helping with her grandchildren. In the early 2000's she moved to Colorado where she enjoyed life with her high school sweetheart Jim Allmon for 12 years in Salida. Sadly, in 2013 her health declined due to her MS and she had to move to El Reno, OK where she could be cared for by her daughter and family.

Jeanette Cook joined her daughter Macy Cook, sweetheart Jim Allmon, her parents, sisters Phyllis, Faye and Wanda in Heaven, but is survived by her daughter Jessica Wells and son-in-law Raymond, her son Nathan Cook and daughter-in-law Traci, her grandchildren Lydia Sells and husband Graham, Shenae Rey, Ian Wells and partner Adora Hayes, and Cole Gascon, two sisters Joe Ann Dean and Doris Roberts, her ex-husband J. Don Cook and friend Jackie Wood. She was proud to be Granny Kook to her five great grandchildren: Ash, Moira, Rylee, Leiabelle and Minerva. She will be greatly missed by many extended family members and friends, but all are happy that she is on to her next grand adventure.
